Enhanced protection for unique ribbon assemblies
Our uniquely developed encapsulation processes use Stycast 2850FT and Catalyst 9 (referenced in NASA’s Qualified Parts List Directory).
Encapsulation provides protection, strain relief and, in some cases, thermal protection for our unique ribbon cable assemblies. We have manufactured assemblies with encapsulation for a mission critical operation to L2 (Second Lagranian Point) 1.5 million kilometres from Earth ensuring safe travel, deployment and operation.
Feedthrough Solution
To remove the requirement for connectors, we have developed a feedthrough solution which seals ribbon cables in the feedthrough itself, reducing cost, decreasing weight, and eliminating the risk of component failure. This technique was used on the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope where 500 wires were built into a woven assembly and passed through the body of the spacecraft without a break between connectors.
Sealing Solutions
We can design feedthroughs for standard and bespoke port apertures in cryogenic chambers to eliminate leakage when the system is in operation.
